The Story of

Honor Yoga.

Honor Yoga is a community-centered yoga ecosystem rooted in mindfulness, inclusivity, and service—supporting healing, growth, and authentic leadership through the practice of yoga.

Our Story

Honor Yoga was founded in 2013 with a clear and heartfelt intention: to create a community-centered path for sharing the transformational practice of yoga.

Rooted in mindfulness, inclusivity, and deep respect for the ancient wisdom of yoga, Honor Yoga was envisioned as more than a studio model it was designed as a living ecosystem to support teachers, practitioners, and communities alike.

The vision was born from the heart of Maria Assunta Parrella, a longtime entrepreneur, yoga educator, and spiritual leader whose life’s work bridges conscious business, service, and spiritual practice. With decades of experience in wellness and leadership, Maria set out to create one of the most supportive and values-aligned systems for yoga professionals in the United States.

Through this commitment to integrity, accessibility, and authenticity, Honor Yoga grew steadily and intentionally, becoming the largest yoga franchise in the country, with more than 48 studios sold across 10 states. Each studio was founded on the belief that yoga should be inclusive, welcoming, and rooted in service to humanity.

As the organization evolved, so did its stewardship.

In 2023, Maria donated the brand’s assets to the Honor Yoga Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to realigning yoga studio ownership with the deeper principles of yoga itself. This marked a purposeful shift — from a traditional franchise model to a foundation-led structure grounded in service, sustainability, and collective good.

Today, Honor Yoga studios are licensed through the Foundation and led by practicing yogis with formal training, a commitment to personal growth, and the capacity to hold space for diverse communities. These leaders embody the original vision of Honor Yoga: creating inclusive, neutral spaces where people of all backgrounds can explore healing, connection, and transformation through yoga.

Honor Yoga continues to grow not simply in size, but in depth, purpose, and impact.
